Undoubtedly, summer is coming soon because the wedding season has officially started. Media outlets are still buzzing about Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s recent nuptial affair in Italy. More so, there is still talk about Kim’s amazing dress.
It’s a fact that waiting to see the infamous bride’s dress is the main highlight of most weddings, after the vows and the after party.
One aspect that often is downplayed during weddings is the beloved bride’s hairstyle. Equally as important as the dress, finding the right hair style for a wedding requires extensive planning and executive decision making.
Whether you’re in a wedding this summer, attending or planning one, 4C Hair Chick thought it would be a good gesture to provide naturalistas with some awesome advice and bridal hair inspiration.
Ashley Ellis, the thrifty fashionista and natural hair blogger behind Fab Ellis, shared her recent hairstyle for her intimate wedding this past May with 4cHc .
Ellis shared that despite social beauty standards, she decided to work with her natural hair for her wedding.
“I felt like for me that my family loves my natural hair, I love my natural hair and my fiance met me when I was a year natural,” said Ellis. “I thought it was the best thing for me to do because that’s who I am.”
Staying true to herself, the 27-year-old decided to opt for an elegant updo with a combination of braids. Her results were absolutely fabulous. Check out the bride’s hairstyle below.
Thrilled by her results, 4chc asked Ellis for some practical advice when it comes to choosing a hairstyle for a wedding.
“Start looking for your hair style early, at least six months,” said Ellis. “Pinterest is a great resource.”
Ellis also advised to bookmark or pin styles you like for reference and schedule a consultation with your hair stylist.
4cHc checked Pinterest out and was astounded by the various updo, bun, and down hair styles. Here are our favorite pinned styles.
If you are participating in a wedding this summer and the area is expecting warmer temperatures, an updo is your go to style. Be creative with your updo and incorporate braids and twists. A plus for this style is that it may last longer than just your wedding day. Why not choose a lasting hairstyle for the honeymoon after?
Are you going for a polished, elegant look for your special occasion? Try the classic bun to show off your sophistication. Hair ornaments are an exceptional option for this style. Guests will have to acknowledge your presence.

If buns and updos are not your style, wear your hair down in the natural direction it grows. Being yourself is always a staple. Just because you choose to avoid dreaded bobby pins and ornaments, you can still sport a textured afro with personality. This can range from a twist-out to a braid-out. In this style, you’re guaranteed to feel comfortable in your own skin.
