If you’re new to the natural hair game, you might not have heard of International Natural Hair Meetup Day (INHMD). Or maybe you have, and you want to learn more. Don’t worry, 4CHC fam, we’ve got the scoop for you.
What is International Natural Hair Meetup Day?
INHMD is an annual one-day, multi-city celebration of natural hair. There are events happening around the world all on May 17, 2014. It’s a great opportunity for veterans and newbies to network, learn about products, meet and greet with bloggers and vloggers, and have fun with fellow naturals! The events are operated locally by an event host (or committee). Be prepared: most events require the purchase of a ticket (in advance), and the prices vary from $5 to $30 for general admission. Some events offer VIP tickets that go up to $50.
Adeea Rodgers, AKA “The Trendy Socialite“, is the creator and founder of INHMD. She first started organizing local natural hair meetups in 2011 in the Greenville, NC and surrounding area. Since INHMD was created in 2012, the event has gained popularity and recognition in the natural hair community. It now includes over 50 cities, 35 states, and international countries! Adeea sees the event as a chance for women to “collaborate, connect, and celebrate the awesomeness, the beauty, and versatility of natural hair”.
How can I be down?
Don’t worry, ladies! Whether it be a natural hair fashion show, festival, or meetup, there may be an event in your area.
