Since I’m new to the Atlanta area I thought it would be fun to post some articles about activities and places for Naturals in Atlanta. I’m kicking things off with this post about my experience at the Product Junkie Natural Hair Meet-up hosted by Coco Natural.
Today’s Meet-up was at a cute Mom N Pop coffee shop called Joffrey’s.
Coco Natural the host of the meet-up shared with me that in addition to coffee Joffrey’s has great smoothies so I tried out the Paradise Island smoothie. It was delicious! It’s also just under $5 so on par with Jamba Juice and Smoothie King chains, but made with a touch of love:)
I would have loved the opportunity to chat with the owner and find out more about how Joffrey’s got started, but it wasn’t really the time and place. I can share though that I received great customer service. I ride hard for Mom N Pops with good service so Joffrey’s is definitely on my visit again list. This image below is a hodge podge of photos I took while at the cafe. The canvas picture in the picture is the owner and her children.
On to the main event! This my friends is Ms. Coco Natural the fearless host of Natural Hair Product Junkies of Atlanta.
Coco and I are both obsessed with the color purple so I immediately felt at home as I sat down in my chair to wait for the meetup to officially start. Sipping my Paradise Island smoothie and taking in the sights of Coco and her mother Pat setting up the café I decided to indulge in some photography to pass the time. I arrived to the Meetup about one hour early so I had time to kill before things got kicked off.
This purple flower was part of the centerpiece decor that Coco and her Mom brought to adorn the larger tables in the sitting area. I was really impressed with the set-up I felt more like I was at a baby shower than at a meetup with people I hadn’t met before. The decorations and giftbags were on point! Atmosphere and ambiance wise I felt both at home and pampered at the same time.
Shortly after I snapped this picture of Ms. Pat (Ms. Pat is Coco’s Mom) and the kids the Meetup got started!
Coco explained to the group what the Natural Hair Product Junkies is all about and she also explained her slogan Natural Hair Freedom. Essentially, the meetup is a support group and community for natural hair women at all stages of their natural journey. The objective of the group is to help one another to embrace and celebrate the freedom that comes with having natural hair. Also another core function of the Meetup is to provide information and resources on products that will benefit us Naturalistas.
The event was an absolute blast. I felt like it was worth every minute of my time. It was well organized- we started on time and ended on time 1pm – 3pm as the meetup invite stated. We heard from five speakers, Coco did giveaways during the transitions from speaker to speaker and the event ended with a product swap (image above of some of the products swapped). One of my favorite parts of the event was the ice breaker. Each attendee received a worksheet with 15 questions and you had to engage with the other naturals at the event to complete your worksheet. Since I’m new to the area I loved that because it gave me a way to meet other people at the event without any awkward conversation starters.

This last shot here taken by Swarthy Daisy gives you a fuller picture of the space.
If you’re new to Atlanta or any other city I strongly recommend that you set-up an account with Meetup.com and search for a natural hair meetup in your area. You never know who you’ll meet or how much fun you can have until you give it a try.
I hope you enjoyed this post please leave any comments, questions, or musings below. I always love to hear from fellow naturalista’s so don’t be shy.
Peace, love, and God’s grace,
