Texture Manageability System
If you’ve ever wanted the flexibility to easily take your natural hair from curly to straight, Strength of Nature’s newest product line may be worth a try. During the Spring 2014 World Natural Hair, Health, & Beauty Show, I had the opportunity to see the Texture Manageability System (TMS) in action.
One lucky audience member had the chance to experience the 4-step process. Let me tell ya’ll! Celebrity stylist Felicia Leatherwood hooked that woman’s hair up!!
The TMS makes straightening your hair really easy. Ms. Leatherwood washed her hair, applied the Inner-Active™ Conditioner to her curls, blow dried her hair, and then flat ironed it at the event.
The transformation was amazing! With the TMS, her straight hair was shiny and bouncy. Did I mention that she can go back very easily to curly, natural hair? Gotta love that versatility.
Chrisette Michele Appearance and Performance
The highlight of my Beautiful Textures experience was Chrisette Michele!
I love, love, love her!!! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been a Chrisette Michele fan since I heard her “Can’t Forget About You” collab with Nas back in 2007. Talk about dope. Since then, Chrisette has released 4 studio albums, I Am (2007), Epiphany (2009), Let Freedom Reign (2010), and Better (2013). At the Beautiful Textures booth, she was kind enough to treat her fans to a live performance of “A Couple of Forevers”, one of the singles from Better.
If you don’t know the song, check out her video for it below.
Fans were also treated to autographs and pictures with Chrisette. I really appreciated how Candace from Beautiful Texture’s PR agency took fans’ phones to snap a picture for them with the artist. Good looking out!
Natural hair talk with the newest R&B Divas: LA Cast Member
Thanks to the wonderful PR team for Beautiful Textures, I got the chance to meet Chrisette Michele.
“OMG” just doesn’t cover how I felt. Try shell-shocked and a little terrified. It was my first time ever interviewing a celebrity – add to that the extra pressure of my long-time admiration for her and you’ll understand why I was nervous. 4CHC fam, I’m happy to report that her energy was so warm and inviting that it made the process really easy. It was like having a frank conversation with a girlfriend (at least that’s how it felt from my side!), not interviewing an internationally known, Grammy-award winning celebrity. She even offered a nearby chair for me and volunteered to sit on the table. I was like, “Girl! You better take the chair”. I’ll stand if it means the opportunity to talk with you!
Once we got settled, I asked about her views on the natural hair movement. “It really is a movement. We try to avoid that fact because we don’t want to feel like we’re a trend. The truth is, we don’t like to fit in. We like to be original…we didn’t want it to be a movement. This is me! I thought I was doing my thing. We were just being sexy and beautiful”.
She went on to discuss her upcoming projects, of which there are several. One is an upcoming reality TV show, R&B Divas: LA, which just finished filming in LA. She shared with me what was important for her in doing the show: “I wanted to be human. I didn’t want to be a celebrity”. Chrisette volunteered that the show’s cast members went to therapy, and she’s “processing it [the show] right now. I’m figuring out what it all meant. I learned a lot about myself.”
Stay tuned for Chrisette’s latest album, The Lyricist Opus. She worked with her own orchestra to create this newest venture! Do it big, then. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also working on The Chrisette Michele Show. It’s an international show featuring her Rich Hipster Orchestra.
On top of that, she’s launching a new website, Rich Hipster. According to Chrisette, it’s a blog, vlog, and boutique. Sign up now and she’ll send you a love letter!
